Summer Treats in Copenhagen
One of the things I love most about living abroad is having my family visit, and explore my own city with them. When my sister visits, we have a couple of things we aaaaalways do and combined with taking her to my favourite spots and exploring new ones together, we put together a little guide to where to get a delicious summer treat in Copenhagen.
Olufs Is is one of those tiny ice ream shops that despite their size offer a huge range of different flavours. They make home made italian ice cream popsicles that both taste and look amazing. One of the things I love about their ice creams is that you can get them in four different sizes, and that they have both milk and sorbet based popsicles. They are dipped in chocolate, and sprinkled with all kinds of wonderful toppings.
My sister and I both opted for a huge (!!!) strawberry ice cream popsicle dipped in white chocolate. So hard to choose. I'm almost always in the mood for a milk based popsicle, because they are dipped in chocolate and rolled in coconut or other delicious things, but on a particularly hot day a sorbet based popsicle seems like a better fit. The strawberry was a really great compromise: creamy and delicious, but still refreshing and fruity! We were to happy girls.

Hot days call for cold treats, and this is one of my favourite places to go in Copenhagen. It's right next to the lakes, so you can take a stroll in the shade by the water while enjoying your ice cream.
Perchs Tearoom is one of the places my sister and I always visit when she is in Copenhagen. And even though they have a wonderful variety of things on the menu, we always order the same thing: black tea and scones with whipped cream and lemon curd. We order different kinds of tea, and sometimes go for the afternoon tea which includes sandwiches, petit four and crémant, but what we are really there for is the scones. And the lemon curd. Maybe mostly the lemon curd. It is silky and smooth, tart and sweet, and goes perfect with the warm, buttery scones and airy whipped cream. And when the city is hot, the tearoom always offers a wonderful temperature change and combined with the scones and buckets of tea, and gives us energy to continue our day in the hot weather. Also a perfect spot on a great and rainy day, for long conversations over plenty of tea and carbs.

Atelier September, has become one of my very favourite spots in the city, for meetings, lunch, coffee or work. Their coffee is great, the food is amazing, cakes are delicious, pastry is perfectly french and they play french radio. Simple, seasonal ingredients, open space filled with light, good baristas, basically everything I like. They make fresh orange and grapefruit juice, italian soda, iced coffee and tea, perfectly brewed coffee, and a range of small dishes that are both breakfast and lunch friendly. I opted for a peach soda, iced coffee and grapefruit with fresh mint leaves while my sister went for a croissant, iced coffee and grapefruit juice.
Open monday-friday 07-16, Saturday 09-16 + sunday 10-16 in Gothersgade 30.
The iced coffee came with the worlds smalles straw, so drinking it made me look so silly my sister insisted on taking a picture of it.
Having this time alone with my sister means a lot to me, and is something I really appreciate. Living far away from my family hurts because I love them so much, so spending time with them individually is incredibly important to me. I have always had a very close relationship to my little sister, and as she has transformed from child to young adult our relationship has grown a lot. I'm so happy to have such a strong relationship with her, and to be able to share my life with her.
Also, she looks super cute in pictures, so I asked if she would model with the next popsicle recipe that is coming up: a peach and raspberry puré popsicle. Best part: to eat them after getting the shots I needed!
