CPHFW: Backstage with BARBARA I GONGINI
BARBARA I GONGINI is one of those brands that just keeps surprising you, and I was looking very much forward to Barbara’s show during Copenhagen Fashion Week, and even more to do my very first backstage shoot from fashion week. It was a Thursday night, warm and windy with dark clouds threatening to ruin the bright summer evening. I was biking as fast as I could to get to the location before the sky would open, and made it just in time. The location was nothing short of magnificent, very BARBARA I GONGINI in it’s raw and honest expression. A little grungy and unexpected. The industrial buildings that surround her studio work perfectly as a runway, a runway in the middle of meters and meters of containers, piled high up towards the ceiling. Perfect for the Nordic Avant-Garde Barbara presents.
The backstage turmoil of fashion week is quite an experience, and being a photographer you constantly feel like you are in the way. Getting all the right shots, while being unnoticeable and not disturbing anyone is a balance I have yet to learn. I thought I’d share some of my favourite shots, also featured on www.lessmagazine.com and the video some of you might have seen a glimpse of on Instagram.
